Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has praised Morocco's impressive display against Brazil in their 2026 World Cup opener, insisting the African champions could have secured a convincing victory if they had forwards with qualities similar to Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
The Atlas Lions had to share the spoils with five-time world champions Brazil after Vinicius Jr cancelled out Ismael Saibari's opener in a Group C encounter at New York/New Jersey Stadium on Sunday morning.
The Moroccan forwards lacked the clinical edge needed to punish Brazil, with only three of their 14 attempts finding the target, compared with Brazil's five shots on target from 12 efforts.
Despite creating several promising opportunities, Morocco lacked the cutting edge needed to make their dominance count.
Reacting to the game, Oliseh highlighted Morocco's progress and suggested that the presence of a clinical striker or a dynamic attacker like Osimhen or Lookman could have made the difference.
"Impressive performance by this Moroccan side, defensively and offensively well structured. Had this team had Victor Osimhen or Ademola Lookman-like players versus Brazil, they could have won by three goals to one at worst," Oliseh posted on X.
The two-time World Cupper also claimed Brazil appeared vulnerable despite their reputation, adding that they were fortunate to have two world-class players.
"Brazil looking deceptive and thank God they had Vinícius Jr and Raphinha. I loved the belief and evolution from the Moroccans," he added.
Morocco will return to action on June 19 when they face Scotland in their next group-stage fixture at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
