UEL: Aston Villa Thrash Freiburg To Clinch First European Title In 44 Years

Aston Villa trounced Freiburg 3-0 in the final of this season’s UEFA Europa League final in Istanbul on Wednesday night.

The last time Villa won an European title was in 1982, when they pipped Bayern Munich 1-0 in the Champions League final.

Also, the dominant win against the Bundesliga side ended the Midlands club’s 30-year wait for a trophy.

After falling short in the Conference League semi-finals and Champions League last-eight over recent times, Unai Emery brought European success back to Villa Park at the third time of asking.

Villa’s quality shone through with a pair of unstoppable strikes at the end of the first half from Youri Tielemans and Emiliano Buendia.

They started to flex their muscles and Morgan Rogers added a third which sparked jubilant scenes on the final whistle.

Meanwhile, it could be a clean sweep of European titles for English clubs this season, as Arsenal and Crystal Palace will contest the Champions League and Europa Conference League finals.

Newly crowned Premier League title winners Arsenal will face European champions Paris Saint-Germanin and Palace will battle Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League.
