After celebrating one of the finest moments of his coaching career, Bafana Bafana mentor Hugo Broos was quick to address the 'big mouths' who criticised the team for their opening day performance against co-hosts Mexico at the FIFA World Cup.
Broos was emotional at the sound of the final whistle against South Korea on Thursday, celebrating a 1-0 victory that sent Bafana Bafana to the knockout phase of the World Cup for the first time in the country's history.

It could have been his final game, since he announced that he is planning on retiring, but Thapelo Maseko ensured that the Belgian has at least one more game in the dugout with his winning goal that sent the South Koreans packing and Bafana Bafana into the last 32, where they will face co-hosts Canada.
Speaking the press conference after the historic result, Broos said he was proud of his players.
"I am very proud of the performance of my team, and I think we gave an answer to all the big mouths last week that we had to change some things and told us what we had to do. We just did what we did and what I wanted to do and this is the result and I am happy for my group," Broos said.

"It was an emotional moment. We came here to Mexico, not only me but all the group, and we wanted to survive the group stages. When you start like we did, it was not so good and then you play a draw against Czechia, you know that the last game you have to win the last game. And the moment you score that goal, I think there was still 20 minutes to play, you feel more and more tense till the last whistle is there. That was for me a moment of emotions, not only because we won the game we are in the second round, but also for me. I said it already in the past that probably it will be one of the last games of my career. When you can end a career like I have, on this way, I think every coach dream of it.
