World Cup 2026: Black Stars are determined and committed to make Ghana proud, says GFA boss Kurt Okraku

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has voiced strong belief in the Black Stars chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the squad is driven by hunger and determination to make the nation proud.

Speaking at a farewell dinner for the team at the Hilton Hotel in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday, Okraku said he remains upbeat about Ghanas prospects in Group L, even as the team prepares to face tough opposition.

He told members of the Ghanaian community in the United States that the current squad carries both quality and ambition, qualities he believes can translate into a strong tournament showing.

The Black Stars have been sharpening their preparations in the United States, training initially at American University before relocating to Virginia to complete their build-up ahead of the tournament.

Ghana will compete in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia, with a challenging schedule awaiting Otto Addos side.

Their campaign begins on June 17 against Panama at BMO Field, before a high-profile clash with England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. The group stage concludes on June 27 against Croatia.

The squad has since settled into its official base in Rhode Island as final preparations continue before kickoff.
