The pressure on Liverpool manager Arne Slot continues to grow after the club set an unwanted record in the Premier League following the 4-2 loss to Aston Villa.

The Reds will have to wait until the final day of the season to secure a UEFA Champions League spot after the loss to Villa, who ended up securing a Champions League place.

With the four goals conceded at Villa Park, Liverpool have now conceded 51 goals this campaign, which is their worst-ever in a Premier League.

Liverpool have now conceded 51 league goals this season - their highest total ever in a 38-game Premier League season.

"We've conceded far too many goals - but I think we've also scored not enough goals," Slot told Sky Sports.

"We were fully in the game, fully able maybe to get a result but I agree that after it went 2-1 we crumbled."

Ollie Watkins, who scored two on the night, also spoke about the Reds' defence.

"They're disjointed at the back and I feel like there's a lot of space for me to run into. I'm going to get chances against them," Watkins said, as per BBC.
