Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed gratitude to supporters, his family, teammates, and coaches after reaching the milestone of 100 appearances for the national team.

Iwobi made the centurion appearances in Nigeria's 2-1 defeat to Portugal at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria on Wednesday night.

Speaking after the game, Iwobi described the achievement as a difficult feat and said he was honoured to become one of only a few players to reach the landmark for Nigeria

"Thank you for the appreciation, the love, and recognition," Iwobi said via the Ugo Amadi Channel.

"It goes a long way. Obviously, a hundred caps for Nigeria is not easy but I am grateful to say I am one of four to have made it here."

The Fulham star thanked the Nigerian coaching staff and his former and current teammates for their support throughout his international career.

"Big shout to the Nigerian staff, the players, the ones that have helped me on this journey."

The former Arsenal midfielder reserved special praise for his parents and sister, acknowledging their role in his journey.

"The main shout-out goes to mum, dad and sister. I wouldn't have been here without them," he added.

He also assured fans that his positive personality and enthusiasm would remain unchanged, adding that he hopes to continue representing Nigeria and possibly reach another century of appearances.

"Of course, you know me, the vibes are going to continue. It's going to be the same old me, hope we get another hundred.

"The main moral of this message was to say thank you and big love. God bless everyone abundantly," Iwobi concluded.

Iwobi became the fourth player in Nigeria's history to earn 100 international caps, joining an exclusive group that includes Ahmed Musa, Joseph Yobo, and Vincent Enyeama.
