The weight of the touch from Tashreeq Matthews that led to Mamelodi Sundowns’ goal in the CAF Champions League came with the value of millions at the end of a full marks season for the lanky winger.
Tashreeq Matthews will go away for his off-season having achieved full marks at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Matthews provided the assist for the goal scored by Teboho Mokoena on Sunday as Sundowns were crowned the new kings of African club football.

That appearance against AS FAR Rabat was his 50th this season, making him the only player at the club to feature in every match across all competitions.
His half-century load has come with 38 starts and 12 substitute appearances, making him the name used the most by Miguel Cardoso this season.
Adding further weight to what the 25-year-old has done is that he has not missed a match since he was brought in as a substitute on April 13, 2025, against Kaizer Chiefs in the 2024/25 Nedbank Cup semis.
That is 64 games in a row, providing goals/assists plus secondary assists playing from the wing.
This season, he has nine goals plus six assists.
He has amazingly avoided suspensions and injuries.

What has also been impressive is that as a Muslim, Matthews still played with the same energy while observing Ramadan from mid-February through to mid-March.
The Champions League winners played eight games during Ramadan, and Matthews featured in all.
