The three stripes and Liverpool have officially unveiled the club's new Home design for the 2026/27 season, launching under the campaign theme "Greatness Is Timeless" — a tribute to one of the Reds' most celebrated eras.
The newest Home kit draws inspiration from Liverpool's iconic 1989–91 adidas strip, a design closely associated with one of the club's golden periods under legendary manager Kenny Dalglish, when the Reds secured the 1989/90 league title.
Reimagining the instantly recognisable geometric pattern from the original jersey, the new design blends nostalgia with modern football aesthetics.
The classic deep red base remains at the heart of the kit, elevated through a bold all-over graphic that mirrors the visual energy of late-80s football culture while introducing a sleeker contemporary edge.
White detailing across the adidas logo, club crest and trims further reinforces the retro-inspired look, creating a clean and timeless finish that connects generations of Liverpool supporters.
To launch the jersey, adidas and Liverpool introduced an ambitious creative campaign combining football heritage with modern technology.
Using AI-generated visuals, club legends Ian Rush, John Barnes, Alan Hansen and Bruce Grobbelaar were digitally reimagined as they appeared during the late 1980s, wearing the original jersey that inspired the new release.
The campaign also pairs the icons alongside current Liverpool stars, including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Mia Enderby in a blend of 2D and 3D visuals that reinforce the message that football greatness transcends eras.
Completing the look are matching deep red shorts and socks accented with crisp white detailing, delivering a unified on-pitch aesthetic rooted in Liverpool tradition.
The authentic on-field version of the jersey retails for R2499, while the supporter edition is priced at R1599. Both are available through selected adidas stores and adidas South Africa.
