Vincenzo Italiano has left Bologna by mutual consent, yet Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia report that Massimiliano Allegri is now the favourite to become the new Napoli coach.
Ex-Milan boss Allegri has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Antonio Conte at Napoli.
According to Sky Sport, both Allegri and Vincenzo Italiano have reached an agreement with the Partenopei, who are about to terminate their assessments on the new coach.
Bologna have just confirmed Italiano’s exit by mutual consent after two seasons, but both Sky Sport and Sportitalia claim that Allegri is now the main candidate for Napoli.
Aurelio De Laurentiis is unhappy with Italiano’s entourage, according to Alfredo Pedullà, as the meeting between the coach and the Partenopei in Rome earlier this week was intended to remain confidential.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Allegri’s agents and Napoli are now in advanced talks to finalise the details of Max’s contract at the Stadio Maradona, which is expected to expire in June 2028.
