England U19 international Max Dowman is in contention to etch his name into the history books on Saturday evening when Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest.

Dowman has been named in Arsenal's travelling squad for the showpiece and is expected to be included in manager Mikel Arteta's matchday squad.

At 16 years and 150 days old, the highly rated midfielder could become the youngest player ever to win the UEFA Champions League should Arsenal defeat the defending champions.

The current record is held by Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu, who lifted the trophy with Ajax Amsterdam at the age of 18 years and 296 days.

Kanu came off the bench to replace Clarence Seedorf with 36 minutes remaining as Ajax secured a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in the 1995 final in Vienna.

Three of the youngest players to feature in a Champions League-winning side did so in that memorable Ajax team, with Patrick Kluivert ranking second on the all-time list at 18 years and 327 days.

Dowman is no stranger to breaking records. Earlier this season, he became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history after finding the net against Everton, while he also set a new mark as the youngest player to start a Premier League match.

The Hale End Academy graduate has further enhanced his reputation by becoming the youngest player to feature in the UEFA Champions League and the youngest scorer in the UEFA Youth League.

A victory for Arsenal in Budapest would not only secure European football's most coveted club prize but would also see Dowman eclipse Kanu's 31-year-old record.
