AS FAR coach's message to Sundowns
AS FAR Rabat coach Alexandre Santos is confident that his team can bounce back in the second leg of the Caf Champions League final.
AS FAR Rabat head coach Alexandre Santos is confident that his team has the capability to turn the tables when they host Mamelodi Sundowns in the return leg of their CAF Champions League final in Rabat.
The Moroccan outfit suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sundowns during the first-leg match played at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday.
Aubrey Modiba scored the decisive strike to give Miguel Cardoso’s men a slight advantage ahead of the showdown in North Africa.
They are looking to capitalise on home ground advantage with tickets said to already have been sold out by last week.
“The most important thing [is that] we are alive,” said Santos post-match.
“We are very alive to go to the second leg and try change the score, try everything that we can, in our home with our supporters, with our confidence, with our philosophy of game that we have.
“Because usually we don’t have the ball so many times as we did and it’s not easy when we lose balls and the opponents control the situation in the game, and it’s not easy when we lost little bit balance of the team.”
The clash was marred by scenes of violence amongst a section of the fans in the stands. However, the situation was calmed by the presence of police.
“I was concentrating on the match. I hope it was just a problem, that nobody hurt. I think it was not [the] kind of situation that promote any kind of problems to the players,” reacted the Portuguese gaffer.
The second leg is on Sunday at 21:00 (SA time).
