Aston Villa must reignite David Moller Wolfe move after his 84% Norway display

Aston Villa were reportedly interested in Wolves left-back David Moller Wolfe in the winter window, and now this interest must be reignited.

The Norway international started against Iraq on Tuesday and helped the Scandinavian nation win 4-1 in their first match of the 2026 World Cup.

Wolfe was a particular standout, with the full-back picking up the assist for the opener as he played a wonderful cross to Erling Haaland to convert.

This attacking intent is exactly what Villa need, and Unai Emery must push for the club to complete the transfer.

The Birmingham outfit have had trouble at left-back all season, with Lucas Digne proving to be unreliable throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

However, Wolfe could now help solve this issue, with the 24-year-old having clear potential.

The victory for Norway may have been nervy at times, but they managed to get the result over the line.

Multiple players impressed, with Haaland no doubt taking the headlines for his brace against the Middle Eastern side.

However, Wolfe’s display should not go under the radar, and he is exactly the type of player that Villa should be targeting.

Despite going down with Wolves this season, the left-back was only a sporadic player, with Rob Edwards preferring other options.

Under the guidance of Emery, the Spaniard could turn him into a key asset and give Villa an excellent attacking left-back.

Hopefully, the club look to make a move as soon as possible, as other clubs may soon register interest if this form continues as the World Cup.

Wolfe had an excellent game and was one of the best players for Norway in their victory.

The left-back completed 84 per cent of his passes, created one chance, made one tackle, made two recoveries and completed 50 per cent of his crosses.

The defender was eventually taken off at 73 minutes, with Norway in the ascendancy as they went on to secure the three points in the remaining minutes.

However, it remains to be seen if he can continue this form as Norway look to make this a tournament to remember.
