Though Orlando Pirates' title-winning victory against Orbit College FC may have been with a hint of own goal 'benefits', a refereeing expert has flagged a wrong decision made at Mbombela Stadium.

The Soweto giants recorded a 2-0 win in a game where they had to collect three points at all costs to see their Betway Premiership ambitions come to fruition on Saturday.

Sabelo Nkomo and Ndumiso Ngiba scored in their side's own net to see Orbit return to the second tier.

The result also confirmed a treble for the men in Black and White, having lifted the MTN8 and Carling Knockout too.

Much of the post-match debate has centred on the rarity of two own goals in a match of such consequence.

However, former PSL referee Victor Hlungwani revealed that it was, in fact, the Buccaneers who were hard done by.

"There was also a handball by [Halalisani] Vilakazi. We can see that Vilakazi put his hand in an unnatural position," said Hlungwani, reviewing proceedings via the help of slow-motion technology on SABC Sport's Soccer Zone on Monday.

"He is taking a risk by hanging his hand there and making contact with the ball. When the hand makes contact with the ball, a handball offence has been committed.

"So, that is a penalty, because a handball offence has been committed.

"A penalty should have been awarded," he added.
