Mamelodi Sundowns entered the halftime break level at 1-1 against AS FAR in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final.

Halftime: AS FAR Rabat 1-1 Mamelodi Sundowns (1-1 aggregate)

The Brazilians came into the clash with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg but the scorer from the first leg, Aubrey Modiba, was not included in the squad as Divine Lunga earned a recall at left-back as Miguel Cardoso's only change.

The Moroccan side come out to dominate the possession in the first half, which was a stark contrast to the first leg when the South African outfit took the initiative in the first leg on home soil, although the encounter did have a couple flash points in the opening 15 minutes.

Sundowns were quite disciplined in the defence as Khuliso Mudau, Ndamane, Keanu Cupido and Lunga were able to deal with the AS FAR onslaught as they kept bombing balls into the box, while goalkeeper Ronwen Williams barely had a save to make.

AS FAR were given a lifeline ten minutes before the halftime break when the referee awarded the hosts a penalty for Lunga's foul following a review on the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) monitor. Mohamed Hrimat stepped up and calmly slotted home to hand his side the lead on the night.

However, Sundowns hit back on the stroke of halftime when Tashreeq Matthews deflected Brayan Leon's cross into the path of Teboho Mokoena, who sent a superb first-time strike in off the crossbar.
