Nigeria Football Federation target Michael Kayode has been nominated for the Premier League's 2025–26 end of season awards, with the Brentford fullback shortlisted for the Young Player of the Season prize.
The Italy U21 international has been included on an eight-man shortlist recognising the standout young performers in the Premier League this season.
Aside from the fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, which he missed through injury, Kayode has started every league match for the Bees during the 2025–26 campaign.
He found the net in a 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers and also registered an assist in a stalemate with Everton.
The defender has accumulated 3,084 minutes of action this season while helping Brentford keep eight clean sheets.
Kayode's blend of pace, strength and attacking intent has added a new dimension to Brentford's backline, while his long throw-ins have developed into a significant tactical weapon.
His deliveries have contributed to five goals and directly or indirectly created 40 shots during the 2025–26 season.
Also nominated for the Young Player of the Season award are Manchester City duo Rayan Cherki and Nico O'Reilly, Matheus Fernandes of West Ham United, Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall, Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, and AFC Bournemouth pair Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott.
Although Kayode is on the radar of Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle, the highly-rated defender is understood to be leaning towards representing Italy at senior level.
