Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is hoping Relebohile Mofokeng can secure a big transfer far after a good season with Orlando Pirates, but has stressed the importance of not putting the attacking midfielder under too much pressure to carry the national team at the FIFA World Cup.

Mofokeng is being tipped to be a candidate for the PSL Footballer of the Season and has an opportunity to showcase his talent on the world stage with the national team. It's a chance to expose himself to scouts around the world, but Broos feels it's important not to put the 21-year-old under pressure.

"I think the most important thing also is to give him confidence, and I think I do that. I do more with him than every other player because I know what happened with Rele in the last two years. It's not so easy. He came from nothing to a star here in the national competition," Broos told media on Thursday.

"I am also convinced that Rele is still not on his highest level. He needs some things more and I hope for him that he will have a transfer now to a bigger competition and to become even a better player than he is. I don't think we have to put too much pressure on his shoulders. He is still a young man. We have to protect him also, even when he doesn't have the performance that you all expect from him."

Mofokeng has previously been linked with moves abroad and Pirates have received offers that were rejected, namely from Russia and Israel, Soccer Laduma understands. After Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi got their moves abroad, Mofokeng could finally leave PSL football for a bigger stage abroad.

After a difficult Africa Cup of Nations a few months ago, Mofokeng will be hoping to have a bigger impact this time round.
