AmaZulu FC's outgoing technical director Pedro Dias says even though he would love to see Milford FC win the Promotion/Relegation playoffs this season, Cape Town City FC are a much stronger side on the pitch.

City enter the mini-league as one of the favourites to join Mpumalanga province club Kruger United in the Betway Premiership next season. To do so, City must finish on top of the three-team mini league.

The round robin playoffs kicks off today with City coming up against a Milford FC side at the DHL Stadium at 15:00.

"Today I'm looking forward to a good game, and I would love to see Milford, a KwaZulu-Natal based club win it, but to be fair with you Cape Town City is needed in the PSL environment as well, so I'm hoping for the best team to win," Dias tells KickOff.

Dias said the reason it's important to have Cape Town City back in the Betway Premiership it's because their presence will add another team in the Western Cape province.

"Which is good for the development of younger kids in that area, and for economical reasons as well. The PSL football needs to be all over South Africa," he shared.

"So looking at them from the outside, I think it's a club that deserves to be in the PSL. It is well-run by the people who are football people. It's a club we need in the PSL."

For the anticipated fixtures between the two coastal side, Dias said both City and Milford have good players and good chances of winning the match.

"But I will go for Cape Town City since they have fantastic young players and very experienced players as well who can bring them on top, and their technical team as well is experienced. So pound for pound, Cape Town City has more chances."

The technical director at AmaZulu said play-offs are more than just a game, but they're about the club's future.

"It's about more revenue for the club and its exposure. So each coach should plan on being mindful of the importance of the game. They must use their best players if they want to be successful."

"If I was one of the two coaches today I would first play wait and see, and attack my opponents only when they are exposed."
