Celtic fans have praised the board as reports emerged that outcast Hayato Inamura is set to depart for a profit this summer.
The Hoops are expected to rake in £1.3million for the 24-year-old centre-back, who is set to make his loan move to FC Tokyo permanent.
Celtic had only signed Inamura for around £250,000 last summer and he only made one appearance before he was sent out on loan.
Now, the Hoops are set to receive just over £1m in profit for a player who had become an outcast at Parkhead.
Fans have been quick to praise the board for these negotiations as Martin O’Neill looks to prepare his squad for the upcoming campaign.
Celtic fans have regularly clashed with the board in recent months due to their running of the club.
The board’s transfer strategy has been particularly controversial, with supporters angry with the lack of investment in the squad.
However, fans put this aside when Kazu Kakiuchi confirmed via X that a deal is 100 per cent done for FC Tokyo to sign Inamura for around £1.3million.
Many took to the platform to express their delight that the club was able to bring in so much money for a player that is clearly not in any first-team plans.
Only celtic could make a massive profit on a player like that lol
Nice bit of business!!!1.25 million profit on a player who couldn't make the bench!!Time to back Mr O'Neil with some real quality signings. If they don't perform sell them on for a profit!Clearly it can be done!!There's plenty of money in the bank, make it work harder!!!!
Folk saying he looked good yet probably watched him against Cork
Good to see the Celtic board are finally active and offloading the deadwood.
Tbf that is some really good business by the club getting him for 250k and not even playing 1 game to then selling him for 1.5M
He actually shows signs of promise when he played. Profit is profit though
Maybe we can do business well £1.25mil profit on an absolute nobody ♂️ why all the noise these days
Tbh that’s remarkable business?
Football Insider exclusively has revealed that Celtic will not stand in the way of a Daizen Maeda sale this summer transfer window.
The striker is out of contract next summer, and with there being little chance that it will be renewed, the Hoops are prepared to cash in.
Maeda is keen on a move to the Premier League after impressing at Celtic towards the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
The attacker’s form proved to be fundamental as he netted numerous key goals to guide the club to a Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup.
He was set to join Wolfsburg last summer before a deal fell through, and the Old Firm side are aiming to avoid a repeat this summer.
A sale is unlikely to be sealed until after the World Cup and once Celtic have confirmed who their manager will be for the upcoming campaign, with O’Neill now reportedly set to take charge for another year.
