Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has kept a record-breaking 21 clean sheets in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership League this season, helping the Bucaneers clinch the league title, and supporters have been comparing him to great past Orlando Pirates goalkeepers like the late Senzo Meyiwa and Moneeb Josephs.
Addressing the issue with the media after the 2-0 league-winning victory over Orbit College on Saturday at Mbombela Stadium, the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper said that it's an honour for him to be where he is right now.

"It's a special feeling to be able to represent that. It's quite remarkable. I always raise the question of where you rank past goalkeepers. Some things are just prices. You can't be able to put yourself in a sentence with people who put you to get where you are. It's like your mentor. Someone you look up to, no matter how much you can achieve. You can't rank yourself with somebody you look up to. You always see yourself as that small little kid from Bloemfontein looking up to Senzo Meyiwa, to Moeneeb Josephs," Chaine observed.
The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper further stated that it is something special and humbling to be receiving such recognition.
"It's really special. I feel honoured to be where I am. I'm not waiting to be where I want to be," Chaine concluded.
After being left out of the two Panama International friendly games, by Hugo Broos, Chaine is back in the fold as he is one of the four goalkeepers in the Bafana Bafana preliminary squad for the World Cup, with the final 26-member squad expected to be announced by coach Hugo Broos on Wednesday.
