Juventus director Giorgio Chiellini believes Dusan Vlahovic ‘won’t remain in Italy’ with his salary demands, so rules Napoli and Milan out of the running.
The striker is now a free agent after failing to agree a new deal with Juve, so his contract will be allowed to expire on June 30.
Discussions had gone on for months, but even with a significant pay cut from his previous wages of €12m per season, the commission and various bonus payments proved too much to overcome.
“I am very sad, he cared about Juve right up to the last minute,” confessed Chiellini to news agency AGI when attending an event.
“He is a serious professional. With these figures, he won’t remain in Italy, so it is only fair and legitimate that he is seeking a different type of salary.”
The comments from the Director of Football Strategy would suggest that the reports Vlahovic is seeking a move within Serie A to Milan or Napoli are wide of the mark.
He feels that nobody within Italian football is going to accept these personal terms, so a new experience abroad seems most likely for the Serbia international.
The former Fiorentina striker has been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona and Saudi Pro League clubs.
