Reports in Spain have warned that Real Madrid could look to activate their buy-back clauses for two of Como’s brightest young talents, not just Nico Paz, who remains in the middle of a tug-of-war between the two clubs.
For several months, it has been reported that Real Madrid would activate their €9m buy-back clause for Serie A midfielder of the year Paz.
The Argentina international joined Como for a low-cost fee in the summer of 2024, but that deal also included a 50% sell-on clause, and more importantly, a series of low-cost buy-back options for €8m in the summer of 2025, €9m in the summer of 2026 and €10m in the summer of 2027.
While Real Madrid’s mind appears to be made up, reports in Italy claim that Como are doing everything they can to keep hold of Paz for at least another year, a season in which they will be competing in the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history. One report in Italy claimed that the player himself is keen to stay on under Cesc Fabregas for another year.
The decision, however, lies ultimately with Madrid.
Now, according to reports from Marca (via TMW), Paz is not the only player that Real Madrid could seek to buy back from Como this summer, as they could also do the same with centre-back Jacobo Ramon.
Ramon joined Como last summer for a tiny fee of around €2.5m, but like the situation with Paz, Real Madrid are entitled to a 50% sell-on and also have a series of low-cost buy-back options over the next few summers.
Marca reports that Real Madrid could seek to buy back Paz, Ramon and 22-year-old Victor Munoz, who joined Osasuna in a similarly-structured deal last summer, for a combined cost of around €23m to rejuvenate the squad. That is not including the re-introduction of Endrick following his loan spell in Ligue 1.
