Leicester City have finally published their retained list following the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season, with three players of Nigerian heritage set to leave the club.

Allnigeriasoccer.com reported five days ago that Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo was expected to leave the Foxes despite initial discussions over a new contract.

With the Foxes relegated to League One, the Charlton Athletic academy graduate is unwilling to continue in the English third tier, despite having previous experience at that level.

Leicester City confirmed on Sunday morning that Aribo's loan spell at the club has come to an end, with the midfielder set to return to parent club Southampton, where he remains under contract until June 30, 2026.

Aribo won the admiration of Super Eagles supporters after scoring a superb goal against Brazil in a high-profile international friendly in Singapore on October 13, 2019.

However, the versatile midfielder has not featured for Nigeria since his substitute appearance against Ivory Coast in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 29-year-old was an unused substitute in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, academy duo Toby Onanaye, 19, and Olaoluwa Omobolaji, 18, will depart Leicester City when their deals run out next month.
