Antonio Conte will say his farewells in front of the Stadio Maradona for the final time on Sunday, as newspapers in Italy confirm that he will walk away from Napoli in a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ with Partenopei President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

According to reports from various outlets including La Gazzetta and Il Corriere dello Sport, later confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Conte will leave his role with Napoli at the end of the 2025-26 season, with his final game coming at home against Udinese on Sunday evening.

Tuesday’s reports confirm that Conte will leave Napoli by mutual agreement as part of a pact with De Laurentiis, which means that the club will not have to hand over any severance pay, despite the fact that the coach still has a year remaining on his contract.

La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that it is a sign of the strength of the friendship between Conte and De Laurentiis that a contract termination has been agreed so smoothly given that both have shown the fiery side of their personalities on multiple occasions in the past.

Leaving Napoli after two seasons continues a long-standing trend: The Partenopei will be the eighth different club that Conte has left after two years or less, nine if the Italy national team is included. Juventus remains the only side where he has stayed for three seasons.

Sunday’s match against Udinese will be Conte’s 91st in charge of Napoli and his 76th with the Partenopei in Serie A. He has averaged 2.07 points per game in the league and has an overall win percentage of 56.67% across all competitions.
