Crysencio Summerville: Tottenham's chances of beating Man United to deal revealed
Manchester United have been told an offer of around £50million could be accepted for West Ham United star Crysencio Summerville.
The 24-year-old is in high demand following the Hammers' relegation from the Premier League and it is unlikely Nuno Espirito Santo will be able to prevent his exit.
Man United are on a long list of admirers of the Netherlands international, with Michael Carrick keen to strengthen out wide, and could take advantage of his situation.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, West Ham are currently demanding a signigicant fee of around £50m to sell Summerville.
He has also stunned at the World Cup, first scoring in a 2-2 draw against Japan in their opening game, and then again in their 5-1 demolition of Sweden.
However, that could see his price tag rise again, having enhanced his reputation on the biggest stage and attracted a number of new suitors.
Football Insider revealed on 19 June that West Ham could be forced to sell Summerville in a bid to balance the books given the growing financial concerns at the London Stadium.
Man United are one of a number of clubs believed to be keeping a close eye on the situation, and could be ready to pounce if he becomes available.
At a fee of around £50m, any deal for Summerville would not come cheap, but West Ham believe clubs will be willing to match their asking price.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "He's obviously somebody who's on United's list as they do look to bring in a left-sided winger.
"West Ham are resigned to losing a number of key players this summer, and Summerville is probably one of the most high profile players that could be on the move as well.
"West Ham, if they were to let him go, I think they'd be looking around £50m for the former Leeds winger.
"He's under contract until 2029, but yeah, this price tag will only go up if he keeps performing like he is for the Netherlands at the World Cup.
"There's also interest from Tottenham in Summerville and there's been quite a lot of interest from Serie A clubs in Italy, but they might struggle to agree the transfer fee and the wages.
"United are very much interested in Summerville a lot will come down to the price tag and whether they are willing to meet West Ham's demands."
Man United are far from the only club interested in signing Summerville, with clubs across Europe placed on alert by his performances at the World Cup so far.
Italian clubs, most notably including Roma, have been keen to lure him to Serie A but fear they will not be able to compete financially with their Premier League rivals.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 9 May that Tottenham could take advantage of West Ham's situation by making a move to sign Summerville.
After pipping their London rivals to Premier League safety, they could now rub salt into the wounds by signing one of their best players as they eye an ambitious summer window.
Summerville has been a long-time target for Spurs, who saw a move blocked during the January window, and they could now reignite that interest.
