Golden Arrows wrapped up an impressive 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign by celebrating star striker Junior Dion after he finished the season as the league's top goal scorer.

Abafana Bes'thende secured a sixth-place finish this season, marking a welcome return to the Top 8 under the guidance of decorated coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

The club's strong league showing was powered by an exciting attacking brand of football, with Golden Arrows scoring 34 goals throughout the campaign — the third-highest tally in the league behind champions Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Dion's standout performances in front of goal proved central to that success, with the 27-year-old forward ending the season at the top of the scoring charts to claim the prestigious Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot.

Following Arrows' final fixture of the season — a goalless draw against TS Galaxy at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday — the club's media team surprised Dion with a heartfelt, makeshift Golden Boot presentation as teammates and staff celebrated his achievement.

In doing so, Dion became only the second player in Golden Arrows history to win the award, following in the footsteps of late club legend Richard Henyekane, who claimed the honour during the 2008/09 season.

Speaking after receiving the tribute, an emotional Dion dedicated the achievement to his teammates and the collective effort behind his prolific campaign.

"Honestly, we've come so far together. It's not for me alone, it's for everybody. I'm so happy. I'm going to get a picture of all of us and frame it for my home. This is for everyone," said the striker.
