Liverpool's 2025/26 season did not go the way many associated with the Reds would have hoped, with the club failing to mount a strong title defence.

In the end, they finished 5th and qualified for the UEFA Champions League due to the EPL being awarded an extra spot via the European Performance Spot (EPS).

At the end of the season, the Reds bid farewell to two players who were crucial cogs to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool tenure - Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.

Both players left the club on a free transfer after nine trophy-laden years on Merseyside, with another name reported to be leaving on a free transfer.

French defender Ibrahima Konate will reportedly leave the club on a free transfer after the two parties failed to reach an agreement over a new deal.

Konate, who has a market value of €50 million (R944.5 million) via Transfermarkt, was reportedly keen to agree a contract renewal, and he was closing in on an agreement with the club before the two parties decided to, according to BBC Sport.

The 26-year-old joined the Reds in 2021 and made 183 appearances, winning four trophies that included one Premier League title, one FA Cup and two EFL Cups.
