Daniel Farke holds the key to Leeds United securing a deal for Dynamo Dresden starlet Kofi Amoako this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The boss is set to “use his German contacts” to help the Whites win the race for the 21-year-old midfielder, who is also on the radar of several Bundesliga clubs ahead of the window.

Leeds view Amoako as a potential long-term project, and sources have indicated that they expect he could become a valuable option in the Premier League later down the line.

There is also an acceptance at Elland Road that it would be a big step up for the youngster from the 2. Bundesliga, and as a result, it is not a top-priority deal for the club at the moment.

Leeds’ transfer plans are set to see them strengthen their starting XI at first, but young talents like Amoako are also being considered by the recruitment team.

Breaking news on latest signings, departures, and contract news from the Elland Road boardroom.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Amoako is “very interested” in a move to Leeds, and would jump at the chance to step up to Premier League level if the opportunity arose.

He has excelled during his debut campaign in the German second tier, but it is understood that he would find a move to the English top flight extremely hard to turn down as the next step for his career.

Leeds have paid close attention to his development at Dresden this season, as he has immediately become a key figure in their fight against relegation to the third tier.

Amoako has started 28 games in the league already this season, and his assured displays have seen a whole host of interest build up ahead of the window.

Although primarily a holding midfielder by trade, he is also capable of playing in a more advanced role, and Leeds view him as a player who could become a star in future years.

Football Insider revealed last weekend that Juventus striker Lois Openda is “open” to a move to Leeds this summer, as the Whites prepare to battle Coventry City for his signature.

The 26-year-old has already fallen out of favour in Turin, and the Old Lady are looking to move him on this summer, despite his loan move from RB Leipzig only just becoming permanent.

The idea of a move to the Premier League is said to appeal to Openda, who is trying to find a route away from Juventus ahead of next season.

He managed 28 goals for Leipzig in all competitions back in the 2023-24 campaign, and is searching for an environment that can help him rediscover that form in front of goal.

Leeds are strong admirers of his ability, and are working hard to try to make a potential loan-to-buy deal work for all parties.
