Fiorentina are seeking new players for coach Fabio Grosso, reportedly including Sassuolo’s Cristian Volpato, Gustavo Sá of Falaicao, or Gremio’s Viery.
The Viola had a dismal campaign where they narrowly avoided relegation, despite reaching the Conference League quarter-finals.
It is widely believed that their new boss will be Grosso, who just achieved mid-table comfort at Sassuolo after earning their promotion from Serie B last summer.
The Corriere dello Sport notes that he has requested a creative player who can play behind the striker, and has a few alternatives.
Volpato would be intriguing, as he already worked with Grosso at Sassuolo and has just been called up by Australia for the 2026 World Cup.
The asking price for him is expected to be around €15-20m.
That is still lower than the other main contender, Gustavo Sá of Famalicao, as the 21-year-old is valued at closer to €30m after four goals and two assists in 34 games this season.
In defence, Gremio centre-back Viery turned 21 in January and the Corriere dello Sport claims that Fiorentina already made an offer worth €12m.
However, this was rejected with a demand of €20m, which is too much for the Viola tastes.
Adam Obert of Cagliari is a cheaper alternative at €8-10m, but without as much pep in his step.
