First Lady Lordina Mahama donates to Black Maidens ahead of Liberia clash in U17 WWC qualifier

Lordina Mahama, Ghana's First Lady, has donated to the U17 Women's team, the Black Maidens ahead of their FIFA U17 Women's World Cup qualifier.The Black Maidens will face West African neighbours Liberia in the second round of the qualifiers in Accra on Saturday, May 23, 2026, as Ghana eyes a return to the global stage.During their preparations at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, the First Lady sent an entourage led by the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, to make the presentation on her behalf.The donation included cartons of Milo, T-rolls, soft drinks, toiletries, and a range of essential supplies aimed at supporting the welfare of the players, enhancing camp conditions, and easing preparations ahead of the game.The gesture from the wife of President John Dramani Mahama is seen as a huge morale-booster for the girls.Meanwhile, the Black Maidens reached the second round of the qualifiers after eliminating Togo, and victory against Liberia will see the team make another step to a return to the World Cup.Ghana will travel to Monrovia next week for the second leg after the game in Accra on Saturday.
