Former Premier League champions Leicester City are interested in Super Eagles goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
According to Alan Nixon on Patreon, via Football League World, the Foxes are prepared to make a move for the Wrexham shot-stopper if he loses his place as the club's first-choice goalkeeper.
Okonkwo started 38 games in the Championship last season, keeping nine clean sheets as Wrexham narrowly missed out on a place in the playoffs.
However, his position as the club's No.1 came under pressure after he was replaced by Danny Ward for the opening four matches of the season and was again on the bench for the final four games.
Leicester are now exploring the possibility of signing the Arsenal academy graduate, either on a permanent deal or through a season-long loan arrangement.
Meanwhile, Wrexham have already begun preparing for a potential departure, with Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Millwall, identified as a possible replacement for Okonkwo.
The 24-year-old initially joined Wrexham on loan in September 2023 before making the move permanent the following season after his contract with Arsenal expired.
On the international stage, Okonkwo made a strong impression during Nigeria’s Unity Cup campaign last month.
The goalkeeper kept clean sheets on his senior debut against Zimbabwe and in the final against Jamaica.
