Teboho Mokoena has opened up about one of the biggest financial lessons of his career, revealing the worst money advice he ever received while reflecting on his journey on and off the pitch.
The Sundowns and Bafana midfield general is currently enjoying a career-high moment after helping Masandawana conquer Africa with their recent CAF Champions League triumph, while also preparing for next month's 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Amid the celebrations and preparations, Investec South Africa released a preview of Mokoena's upcoming appearance on their 'Everything Counts' podcast, where the midfielder reflects on money, football and lessons learned throughout his rise to the top.
According to the teaser shared on social media, the Investec ambassador discusses growing up around his grandmother's business, signing his first professional contracts and learning how to think beyond immediate financial rewards.
One moment from the promo clip that stood out is when Mokoena was asked about the worst financial advice he had ever received.
"It's Forex. Someone told me about Bitcoin and crypto, I bought it and ended up losing money," admitted Mokoena.
The preview also touches on the often-unspoken topic of finances among professional athletes, with the midfield star candidly adding:
"As gents, we don't talk about money; it's a sensitive topic."
The full podcast episode is set to be released on 2 June, with supporters eager to hear more from one of South African football's most influential stars.
