Deon Fourie will play professional rugby past his 40th birthday after signing a contract extension with the Stormers, reports claim
According to Netwerk24, the veteran loose forward, who turns 40 in September, has committed to another season with the Cape side.

Fourie is currently out injured after he suffered a knee injury in the URC match against Ulster as a result of a nasty crocodile roll by Ireland lock Iain Henderson.
Fourie’s story is remarkable. He only made his Springbok debut at 35 and went on to win the 2023 Rugby World Cup at 37.
The big question now is how quickly he can recover from the knee injury. He will be hoping to be ready for the Stormers’ 2026/27 season opener against Connacht, which happens to fall on his 40th birthday, but that remains to be seen.

Few would bet against the veteran, however, who has come back time and time again from serious injury.
And the Stormers obviously believe the experienced forward can still make a meaningful contribution on the field and in the dressing room.
