Atalanta midfielder Ederson will become the 11th player leaving Serie A for Manchester United in the last ten seasons, with the Red Devils investing over €600m to sign players from Italy’s top flight in the last decade.
Atalanta midfielder Ederson is on the verge of joining Manchester United on a permanent €50m transfer, including add-ons.
The Brazilian will become the 11th player moving to Old Trafford from Italy in the last ten years, the third from Atalanta after Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo.
Manchester United’s most expensive Serie A purchase since the 2015-16 campaign was Paul Pogba, who returned to Old Trafford from Juventus for €105m in 2016, 10 years ago. Another player who returned to United from Turin was Cristiano Ronaldo in 2021, in a €17m deal.
The last player to move from Italy to Old Trafford was Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu, who completed a permanent €30m transfer in the January 2025 transfer window.
