Man United 'target' Ferdi Kadioglu's value rises further after 124-touch World Cup display - verdict

Brighton should be concerned about Manchester United's interest in Ferdi Kadioglu after his showing on the World Cup stage.

Sporx in Turkey reported that United had identified Kadioglu as a long-term successor to Luke Shaw in the left-back role.

Signing a new left-back this summer is a priority for the 20-times champions this summer, with further competition needed in the position.

Kadioglu has delivered a number of impressive performances since joining Brighton from Fenerbahce for £25million in 2024, and the Seagulls are known for developing talent before selling them on for a profit.

Man United are strengthening their squad ahead of their return to the Champions League, and they have already agreed a deal to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

After bolstering their attack last summer, the Red Devils look to be focusing more on their midfield and defence this time.

Despite a 2-0 loss to Australia, Kadioglu put in a strong performance for Turkey to put forward his credentials for a move to Man United.

The 26-year-old won two of his three duels, made six recoveries and made four clearances.

Turkey dominated possession, meaning Kadioglu had 124 touches of the ball, and made 17 progressive carries.

The full-back successfully completed 90 per cent of his passes, with five of those key passes.

It is clear that whilst Kadioglu is solid defensively, he can also offer an attacking threat.

As well as Kadioglu, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle's Lewis Hall has emerged as a transfer target for the Red Devils.

It is unlikely that Newcastle would be willing to allow Hall to leave the club having already lost Anthony Gordon, and with the futures of other key players up in the air.

The 21-year-old could command a fee above £60m with his contract not set to expire until 2029.

However, manager Michael Carrick is clearly looking to the future in his transfer plans this summer, with Man United also targeting fellow 21-year-old Mateus Fernandes from West Ham.

Carrick has a record of utilising and developing young players, and that is expected to continue at Man United next season.
