According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester City could pounce on Marco Palestra, especially if Enzo Maresca replaces Pep Guardiola, upsetting Inter’s plans to sign the Atalanta-owned wing-back.

Inter have set their sights on Palestra and are already considering an offer worth €40m to sign the promising 21-year-old who has spent the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Cagliari.

Palestra will return to Atalanta in the summer, but his future in Bergamo remains uncertain, given that he’s imposed himself as one of the most exciting young talents in Serie A this season.

According to Sky Sport transfer expert Di Marzio, however, Inter’s plans might be disrupted by Manchester City, especially if the Premier League giants replace Guardiola with Maresca.

Di Marzio told TMW (via FCInter1908) that if Manchester City join the race for the Italian wing-back, the asking price might rise to €50-60m, making it hard for the Nerazzurri to match Atalanta’s demands.

Guardiola remains under contract with Manchester City until June 2027, but his future at the Etihad Stadium is far from certain and according to Fabrizio Romano, Maresca is currently the only candidate on the Citizens’ agenda to replace Pep.

Palestra has scored one goal and provided four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions this season, making his senior Italy debut this past March.
