Inter President Beppe Marotta assures they have ‘not discussed’ Roma defender Evan Ndicka, while there is ‘no news’ on their pursuit of Atalanta talent Marco Palestra.
Marotta was in Rome today for the election of new Federation President Giovanni Malagò and spoke to reporters outside the FIGC headquarters.
He was naturally asked about the general state of the Nerazzurri transfer strategy going into the summer as Double winners, lifting both the Serie A trophy and the Coppa Italia.
Their primary target is Palestra, who will cost in the region of €50m and is seen as the ideal heir to Real Madrid-bound Denzel Dumfries.
“There is no news on that,” replied Marotta to reporters.
However, he was a little more forthcoming when pressed on the rumours that Inter are targeting Roma defender Ndicka.
“We have not discussed anything for now, we haven’t sought him out, so if you ask me whether we are in negotiations for him, the answer is certainly not.”
The Ivory Coast international turns 27 in August and has become a key figure in the Roma defence, but his contract only runs to June 2028 and his future is up in the air.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt defender made 42 competitive appearances for Roma this season, also scoring five goals.
