With the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season drawing to a close, Mamelodi Sundowns are expected to make a decision on the future of Terrence Mashego, who is currently on loan at Durban City FC.
Mashego joined Sundowns at the start of the 2022/23 campaign from Cape Town City FC with high expectations. However, things did not work out as planned for the left-back at Chloorkop.

Recurring injuries initially kept him sidelined, while strong competition for places also made it difficult for him to live up to expectations at the Tshwane giants.
According to sources, Mashego is believed to have signed a three-year contract with two options to extend his stay, and Downs had activated a one-year extension at the start of this season.
The 29-year-old is currently on loan at Durban City, where he recently won the Nedbank Cup after joining the club in September 2025 in search of regular game time.
Sundowns still hold another option on his contract and, should they wish to keep him, they would need to activate it before the end of the season amid reported interest from several clubs.
According to sources, Mashego is happy at the Citizens, but the final decision rests with the Brazilians, while the KwaZulu-Natal outfit are believed to be making efforts to keep him.
"Mashego has done well for himself at Durban City, and it looks like he has a better chance of playing regularly there," a source said to KickOff.
"But remember, Sundowns still have an option on his contract, so the final decision remains with them.
"And I can tell you, nothing has been communicated as yet. All I know is that he is going back at the end of the season.

"But from what I understand, there is a strong possibility they could allow him to leave permanently. But for now, he will return to Sundowns.
"After that, the club will decide, but there is a chance he stays at Durban City either on loan again or permanently because the club is very happy with his contribution since arriving there.
According to the source, Durban City aren't the only club interested in him as there are other clubs monitoring him closely after the performances he has delivered this season.
