New Juventus CEO Carnevali decides all but one of Comolli’s signings are up for sale

Giovanni Carnevali officially started in his role as the new CEO of Juventus on Monday morning, and the latest updates claim that he has already decided to place all but one of his predecessor’s signings up for sale.

Carnevalli took over from Damien Comolli at the top of the Juventus hierarchy. Comolli had only been in the role for one season, but left amidst reports of a falling-out with head coach Luciano Spalletti due to failed transfer approaches and a disagreement over their future visions for the club.

While supporters eagerly anticipate the arrivals of new signings in the summer transfer market, Carnevali must first get to the bottom of the club’s budget and will have to move a few players on first in order to accommodate new acquisitions, especially without access to the Champions League in 2026-27.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Jeremie Boga is the only player that Comolli brought to the club that is currently considered ‘safe’ from being sold during the summer transfer window.

The French-born Ivory Coast international joined the club on loan with a low-cost option to buy for just €4.8m during the January transfer window and has since gone on to prove himself as a solid option to rotate with Kenan Yildiz and has enonugh versatility to cover a number of roles across the Bianconeri attack when required.

As for the rest of the signings that Comolli made at Juventus, nobody is guaranteed to stay.

Juventus will listen to offers for both Jonathan David and Lois Openda. David joined on a free transfer, which means that Juventus are guaranteed to make a capital gain if they sell him this summer, but a significant salary of €6m and after an underwhelming first campaign in Italy, finding a willing buyer could still be relatively complicated.

Selling Openda might be even more tricky given that Juventus signed him on loan with an obligation to buy clause in excess of €44m.

Edon Zhegrova is also considered surplus to requirements after failing to make a single appearance in the Bianconeri starting line-up in Serie A this season. There have been reports that Turkish outfit Trabzonspor could be interested.

There is also Joao Mario, who was bought permanently in the summer but was then sent out on loan to Bologna in a sort-of exchange deal involving Emil Holm moving in the opposite direction. The Portuguese is also not expected to play a major role in the Juve first team next season as things stand.
