Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City at the end of the season after a decade in charge, the Premier League side confirmed on Friday.
The Spanish coach will take charge of his final home match on Sunday against Aston Villa despite still having one year remaining on his contract.
Guardiola said he felt “deep inside” that the time had come to leave after 10 years at the Etihad Stadium.
Since arriving from Bayern Munich in 2016, Guardiola has led City to 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the club’s first Champions League crown, while reshaping English football with his possession based style and tactical approach.
Manchester City said Guardiola would remain linked to the City Football Group as a global ambassador and technical adviser.
British media reports said former assistant Enzo Maresca is expected to succeed him.
