Cagliari are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Pisa for Switzerland international Michel Aebischer, but the asking price is €5m, with Genoa, Sassuolo and Augsburg interest too.
The midfielder has impressed so far in the 2026 World Cup for his country, starting both the 1-1 draw with Qatar and 4-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He joined Pisa last summer from Bologna on loan with an obligation to buy for €4.5m, so the club wants to recoup that cash following relegation to Serie B.
According to Calciomercato com, the side leading the race is Cagliari, prepared to get close to the €5m asking price.
There is strong competition from Genoa and Sassuolo within Serie A, plus German side FC Augsburg.
It is reported that the Sardinians are in advanced talks with his agents and the 29-year-old is eager to make the transfer.
Aebischer has been in Serie A since January 2022 when coming to Bologna from Young Boys, initially on loan and then purchased six months later for €3m.
Although he was unable to prevent Pisa’s relegation, he scored one goal and provided two assists in 35 Serie A appearances.
