West Brom have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool centre-back Carter Pinnington, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old defender, who is seen as having great potential and a very high ceiling, has had interest from multiple Premier League and Championship clubs in recent months.

Sources say that the Baggies have won the race for the teenage central defender after reaching a full agreement with the player on personal terms.

Morrison already looks set to add Chelsea youngster Jimmy-Jay Morgan to the squad, and the Championship outfit have already turned their attention to an Anfield raid.

Although Pinnington has no first-team experience for the Reds just yet, the youngster could follow in the footsteps of Nat Phillips, who has impressed since joining the Baggies.

Despite not yet making his senior debut for the Reds, he is one of the more exciting academy products at Anfield, having risen through the youth ranks with ease.

Pinnington has always been one step ahead of his teammates, making his Under-18s debut at 15 years of age, while also becoming a regular for the Under-21s at 16 years old.

On Merseyside, supporters have compared his footballing journey to Jarell Quansah's, who is now a star in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, and linked with a big-money move back to Anfield.

Morrison will also love the fact that Pinnington can be slotted into the defensive midfield spot, and has also shown leadership skills when captaining England's youth teams.

The centre-back spots are not the only concern heading into the 2026-27 campaign, with Morrison clearly identifying other areas of the pitch in need of improvement.

Josh Maja and Daryl Dike are both linked with moves away this summer, with Falkirk's Barney Stewart on the club's radar at the Hawthorns.

The 22-year-old notched 10 goals and two assists in all competitions for the Bairns, with 10 of those contributions coming in the Scottish Premiership.

Now that Morrison is the permanent manager in the dugout, there is a lot more stability for the Baggies to build upon, and that could continue with the signing of Pinnington.
