Inter have a new arrival of sorts, as Aleksandar Stankovic underwent a medical today, ready to return from his successful spell at Club Brugge for €23m.

The talented midfielder is the son of former Inter player Dejan Stankovic, and therefore came up through their youth academy along with brother Filip.

Following a loan in Switzerland with FC Luzern, he was sold to Club Brugge last summer for €9.5m, but the negotiations were fraught with difficulty.

This is because the Nerazzurri were determined to maintain a low buy-back clause, convinced that the player would flourish in Belgium.

They were proved absolutely right, because the 20-year-old was a key figure in their title success, making 55 competitive appearances with a tally of nine goals and five assists.

Multiple sources confirm Stankovic was in Milan today and underwent medical tests with Inter staff.

It is the first step towards the club activating its buy-back clause, which is worth €23m if triggered this summer, then €26m if they wanted to wait until June 2027.

This means the player will effectively only cost €14m, having been given a full season to grow.

Inter seem ready to make it stick now, bringing him back to base to work with coach Cristian Chivu.
