Sundowns legend calls for Cardoso's exit - Even if he wins Champions League
Mamelodi Sundowns legend Eric Ramasike criticizes coach Miguel Cardoso for mismanaging the squad, citing poor rotation and fatigue. He calls for Cardoso's dismissal, even if Sundowns win the CAF Champions League…
Mamelodi Sundowns legend Eric "Tambai" Ramasike has expressed the view that head coach Miguel Cardoso has not effectively utilized the club's substantial and costly squad to its full potential.
He argues that, regardless of the outcome in the CAF Champions League final, the coach should be dismissed.
Currently, Sundowns players are experiencing significant physical and psychological fatigue, a situation confirmed by coach Cardoso himself, who attributes this to congested fixture schedules.

However, Ramasike contends that the team’s struggles are primarily due to the coach's own mismanagement.
"The objective is to win the league; yet, against TS Galaxy, an unexpected selection was made—such as including Kegan Johannes, who had not played for over a month. Cardoso's planning was inadequate, and his execution in the match was, frankly, poor," laments Ramasike.
The former midfielder asked how can fatigue be used as an excuse when the squad comprises thirty-five players.
"Proper rotation was not implemented," he says.
"Instead, players like Teboho Mokoena and Marcelo Allende were engaged repeatedly without adequate rest, despite the team’s depth. Cardoso has failed in this regard. It is unlikely that Orlando Pirates will lose both remaining matches."
The former Moroka Swallows footballer was also scathing against Bafana Bafana Captain and Downs number one Ronwen Williams saying his overconfidence is problematic.
"He should have been rested against Galaxy. Denis Onyango should have featured in at least two or three matches, as continuous play impacts a player's mental state. This neglect contributed to the seven goals conceded in two games."
While most fans think Cardoso should be judged on whether he wins the club's second Caf Champions League trophy, Ramasike believes that the Portuguese coach should be relieved of his duties even if Sundowns wins a second star.

"Even if he wins the Champions League, Cardoso should be replaced," he said, adding that the team’s performance is unsatisfactory.
"It is unreasonable to expect a player to perform consistently after participating in twenty-six consecutive matches, as fatigue inevitably affects performance. Proper squad rotation is essential. Cardoso’s mismanagement has ultimately undermined his position."
