Super Falcons To Face Senegal In Double-Header International Friendly Games

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will take on Senegal in a double-header international friendly encounter.

This was revealed on the Super Falcons Show X handle on Saturday.

It is gathered that the two matches will take place inside the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State on June 5 and 8, 2026.

The ties will serve as preparation for the Super Falcons ahead of this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco from 26 July to 16 August.

The Super Falcons were initially billed to face Jamaica in an international friendly match in England before it was cancelled

In an official statement on Friday, the JFF said the fixture was called off to ensure all logistical and procedural arrangements met the required international benchmarks.

“The Jamaica Football Federation has reaffirmed its commitment to FIFA compliance and transparency following recent reports surrounding the proposed fixture involving the Reggae Girlz and Nigeria.”

The JFF explained that the proposed dates for the match were May 27, 28 or 30, 2026, but noted that the dates fell outside the official FIFA Women’s International Window scheduled for June 1 to June 9, 2026.

It stated, “As a result, clubs would not have been obligated under FIFA regulations to release players for international duty during the proposed period.”

The football body added that the matter had been communicated clearly to organisers from the beginning, while discussions continued in the hope of reaching a suitable arrangement.

The 2026 WAFCON also doubled as the African qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The top four teams will qualify for the World Cup, and two more teams will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs.

The Super Falcons, who are the defending champions, are in Group C with Malawi, Zambia and Egypt.

Senegal are in Group A with Morocco, Algeria and Kenya.

At the 2024 edition, the Super Falcons staged a dramatic comeback to beat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final to land a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
