Reports in Italy claim that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Juventus’s Gleison Bremer to replace Cristian Romero in defence, and that the Premier League side could look to include Italy goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as part of a deal.
Romero, a former Juventus defender himself, is widely expected to leave Tottenham this summer.
The 28-year-old, currently serving as captain, infuriated Spurs supporters when he decided to attend a match between Belgrano and River Plate in his native Argentina while his teammates played their crucial final Premier League game of the season against Everton, when the club had not yet confirmed their survival in the English top flight.
Romero was injured at the time and had been given permission by the club to return to Argentina for further treatment ahead of the World Cup.
If Romero is to leave Tottenham this summer, reports from Tuttosport claim that Roberto De Zerbi’s side could make a move for Juventus’s Bremer, who has a release clause worth €58m valid in his contract between July 1 and August 10.
According to Tuesday’s report, Juventus will demand €58m, or at least a fee close to that amount if they are to part ways with the 29-year-old Brazil international this summer.
Tuttosport also claims that Tottenham could seek to include goalkeeper Vicario in an attempt to lower the transfer fee for Bremer.
Juventus are seeking a new stopper to replace the unconvincing Michele Di Gregorio, however, recent reports claim that Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez would be their preferred choice and that they are currently inclined to seek the full €58m for Bremer if he is to leave in the near future.
