The confirmation of Bafana Bafana’s final World Cup squad has left the most senior member of the team at the bottom of the transfer evaluations.
Bafana Bafana’s oldest squad member – Themba Zwane – will travel to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the lowest transfer evaluation of all players in the squad.
Zwane – who turns 37 nine weeks from now – has been included by Bafana coach Hugo Broos despite playing less than 780 minutes at Mamelodi Sundowns through the 2025/26 season.

That is the equivalent of eight 90-minutes shifts with a return of a single assist and no goal.
However, all that will be forgotten as he enters the World Cup amongst the ‘elders’ who will be led by Cristiano Ronaldo (41), Luka Modric (40), Eden Dzeko (40), Manuel Nuer (40), and Lionel Messi who turns 39 in June.
For Zwane, this will be his first and most likely last World Cup of his career.
Based on the evaluation of players by Transfermarkt, he will go into the tournament as the lowest rank of all 26 players in the Bafana squad.
His value has dropped to under €300 000 (approx. R5,7 million).
That estimation is on a downward spiral headed to below €200 000 (R3,8 million).
Zwane reached his peak value four years ago when he rose to €1,5 million (approx. R29 million).

He is amongst three players who include Ronwen Williams and Teboho Mokoena with over 50 caps.
Burnley striker Lyle Foster is by far the most expensive player in the World Cup bound Bafana at €10 million (approx. R191 million).
His value is aided by that he has been playing in the English Premier League and is into his seventh year playing in Europe.
