Reports in Italy claim that Niclas Füllkrug could be set to stay in Serie A for 2026-27, but with newly-promoted Venezia instead of Milan, who will send the German back to West Ham at the end of his loan spell.

Füllkrug has spent the second half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan in Serie A with Milan, for whom he has made 19 appearances, 16 of which have come off the substitutes’ bench. His only goal for the Rossoneri came in a 1-0 victory at home against Lecce in January.

Füllkrug’s loan deal included an option to buy, but Milan are not expected to activate that clause and are instead set to send him back to parent club West Ham after the 2025-26 season comes to an end this Sunday.

West Ham are not expected to keep Füllkrug on board either, but Wednesday’s reports claim that there could be a new option for him in Serie A in 2026-27.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Venezia are keen to sign the 33-year-old this summer.

Giovanni Stroppa’s side were promoted to the Italian top flight as Serie B Champions earlier this month. They are also set to receive a cash boost from the sale of the talented 22-year-old Issa Doumbia, who is reportedly in line to join Sporting CP in a deal worth up to €26m including add-ons.

Di Marzio reports that Füllkrug is not the only player Venezia are eyeing now that the Serie B season has come to an end: Lazio midfielder Toma Basic is also said to be of interest.
