Bafana Bafana players paid a visit to sponsors Standard Bank in Rosebank on Wednesday morning and captain Ronwen Williams made a plea to supporters ahead of their departure for the FIFA World Cup.

Bafana will play their final friendly international on home soil against Nicaragua at Orlando Stadium on Friday, but before that, they visited the offices of Standard Bank, with players receiving a warm welcome from the employees.

The event was attended by all the Bafana players who have been included in the preliminary squad, with Hugo Broos set to leave out six players who won't be going to the World Cup with the team next month.

Williams was given an opportunity to talk to the employees and made a plea.

"It's a massive honour for the team to be here. For everyone showing us the support, we appreciate it and we feel it. Together we can achieve so much more. With unity, with strength, we can achieve good things. We feel the support. I want to urge everyone (to) get behind the players, get get behind the team, support us, send us those well wishes and we will carry the entire nation on our back and give our all," Williams said.

Broos, meanwhile, was a bit emotional when he addressed the employees, saying he has never received such warmth in his career as a coach.

"I am 74 years old, I have a career of 55 years and I can assure you that it never happened in my career that I felt the same warmth and support, so thank you for that."
