As a member of the last Mamelodi Sundowns side to win the CAF Champions League, Themba Zwane has passed on the message to the current generation on how they could potentially be remembered for the next decade.

Sundowns are just 90 minutes away from a second title in the competition, 10 years after claiming the trophy under former coach Pitso Mosimane. They do, however, have to make sure they get the job done this time around, and the 1-0 lead they carry from the first leg at Loftus Stadium gives them a slight advantage.

Back in 2016, Sundowns had a comfortable 3-0 lead going into their second-leg final clash against Egyptian giants Zamalek, giving them some breathing room. They lost the second leg in Alexandria, but the result they had registered in Atteridgeville was enough to secure them their first continental title.

With the 1-0 lead they have now, Sundowns have to dig deeper on Sunday night to get their hands on the trophy, but it will certainly etch their names into the history books of the club.

"I will try to remind them how big it is and the excitement we are going to get in the country. We have to push ourselves and try to make history. I think this group will be remembered after 10 years. Overall, it's to remind them of the importance of this game," Zwane said via the Sundowns media department.

Even with the challenges they faced with their trip to Morocco, Sundowns are making sure that the mood ahead of the CAF Champions League final second leg does not get affected by any negativity off the field.

Sundowns were meant to leave for Morocco on Tuesday via a chartered flight, but they had not received a permit to land in Rabat and eventually travelled on Wednesday.

"The travel was long, but I think the mood is super okay. Everyone is so excited. You can see the brotherhood. We push one another. We had some fun on the flight. We are trying to keep the mood to be positive as much as we can."
