Borussia Dortmund's stance on Felix Nmecha transfer revealed amid '£100m' Man United update
Borussia Dortmund are relaxed over the future of Felix Nmecha despite growing interest from Manchester United this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 25-year-old has become a crucial player for Dortmund this season, while he has also impressed at the World Cup, playing a key role in both of Germany's wins so far.
Those performances have attracted interest from clubs across Europe as well as the Premier League, with Man United the latest to be linked with a move.
However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Dortmund have placed a £100million price tag on Nmetcha to deter potential suitors.
Niko Kovac has no plans to lose his star player this summer and is not concerned about the rising interest in his signature as a result of those World Cup performances.
Instead, he remains a key part of the long-term plans at the Signal Iduna Park, and any move from Man United will be met with firm resistence.
Football Insider revealed on 19 June that Man United scouts have been impressed by Nmecha's performances for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this season.
His performance for Germany during their World Cup opening game against Curacao, where he scored the first goal in a huge 7-1 win, has also grabbed attention.
However, with a £100m price tag now in place, Man United may be forced to consider their other options to strengthen in midfield.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Nmecha is somebody that I'm sure the United scouting team are keeping tabs on. As you said, he started the World Cup well with Germany.
"Dortmund are quite relaxed on the whole situation regarding Nmecha, he's under contract until 2030, having signed a new deal just last August.
"The release clause in there doesn't kick in until next summer. If Dortmund were to let him go this summer, they would be looking a huge fee for him, probably around the £100m mark.
"I wouldn't expect Man United to pay that sort of money for Nmecha, and as I said, Dortmund are pretty relaxed about the midfielder's future."
Man United are not the only club who have been impressed by Nmecha's performances this season, with scouts from clubs across Europe keeping tabs on his performances.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, while Chelsea are believed to be long-term admirers, but could also miss out.
Football Insider first revealed in March that Man City have been keeping tabs on Nmecha since he left the club in 2021 to return to his native Germany with Wolfsburg.
The midfielder progressed through the academy system at the Etihad, and was also eligible to represent England, but has since shone for Germany on the international stage.
He made the move to Dortmund in 2023 and has since gone on to play over 100 times for the club, with City now alert to his potential availability this summer.
